Take a look at your hands right now. Nails looking a little grizzly? Yeah, your significant other and co-workers see it too.

Men were never one to dote about their hands much. But we’re evolving. Let’s face it, unless you climb trees for a living, those nails should be high on the grooming priority list with that white grin of yours and new great haircut you just received.

Easiest solution, head to SIR for a proper Hand Detail (aka men's manicure) at least once a month. It will take a professional just half an hour to change your hand-shake forever and keep you looking your best. Of course, having a beer while your hands are clipped, filed, buffed and massaged while catching the latest on the tube make’s it all much more enjoyable as well!

Ready to try it on your own? Honestly, it only takes 3 basic steps for you to tackle and maintain those man hand’s at home. Head to the drugstore and grab just 5 essential items to continue the great results: Nail Scissors or Clippers, Emery Filing Board, Three-Way Buffing Block, Bottle of Cuticle Oil and Cotton Balls.

1. Clip
Start your hand detail by trimming your nails with the scissors or clippers. As a general grooming rule, nails shouldn't be more than one-eighth of an inch in length.

Trim only the tips of your nails and not the sides, or you risk the dreaded hangnail. When you're done, your nails should be flat-topped.

2. Buff
Use the emery file to round the corners of your nails and file them down to a comfortable length. Then switch to the three-way nail buffing block.

Nail professionals for men use buffers to smooth away nail ridges and irregularities. A three-way buffing block is a sturdy, rectangular block of foam that has been coated with one polishing surface and two grades of abrasive in a very fine grit. Easily found at your nearest drugstore for just a few bucks.

Use the fine grit surface to buff across the nail from side to side with gentle, even strokes. Leave the deepest of the ridges or you'll buff away the entire nail. Next, gently buff with the finest grit surface for a soft, matte luster. A few gentle but rapid strokes with the polishing surface, at the end, will create a natural shine.

3. Oil
The cuticle is the outermost layer of skin that protrudes a short way above the nail surface and is attached to the nail. When the nail grows, the cuticle often becomes distended, at which point it dries and shreds.

Damaged cuticles should never be removed. Cuticles are barriers that keep bacteria from entering the body between the nails and skin. They should also not be allowed to overgrow, since this retards nail growth. Instead, cuticles should be "pushed back." To do this, apply a few drops of cuticle oil along the edge at the bottom of each nail, where the cuticle and nail connect. Let the oil sit for a minute or two to soften the cuticle.

Then, use a cotton ball to firmly push the cuticle back and snip away any stray pieces of dead skin with your nail clipper. Finish off with a great hand lotion for men, like Jack Black's Hand Healer, and you're done, man!

Repeat on your feet. The same steps apply for an ultimate and simple Foot Detail (aka men's pedicure). You know they need to be worked on too!
